The Amber Alert Extension Project (AAEP) as I like to call it was inspired by a certain cell phone commercial that had used the SMS features to find a lost dog for a very unhappy little girl.
The current Amber Alert System isn't up to par with the way current technology is used today. To give you a brief on the Amber Alert System that is currently in place, it works like this:
A designated official had deemed a person missing that meets certain Amber Alert Requirements. The requirements are in place so that when an Amber Alert is issued, it is real, not a false alert. Currently the Ambert Alert System, when issued, is broadcast over the airwaves in the form of a news broadcast, whether is be TV, or Radio, and the signs that you see above you on the freeway.
So where do I come in? Well, sitting in a familiar spot reading a familiar PC World article on keeping your Facebook account secure and private; I had an appiphany. Why can't I meld together a universal client that would utilize the power of the 3 most widely used social networks in the world: Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter to enhance the effects of the current Amber Alert System? This kind of social power would sureley aid in the finding of people in an expidiated amount of time.
The Amber Alert Extension Project would work like this:
Every state has an Amber Alert System. This system would be an extension of the current Amber Alert System, hence AAEP. When an Amber Alert is deemed necessary not only would the information be posted on the airwaves - it would also be posted on the net-waves.
Working with the internets largest three social networks: Twitter, Facebook, and MySpace, each state would have a designated posting page. In my test case I have a Johnny Law page as the command center and the initial development page here: http://www.justintech.com/fb/. The formula is the same for each of the 3 services: MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter:
